I know Hillary is very sweet but he wasn't much of a friend to her. He called her a racist for some unknown reason and it hurt her feelings.  She was a better friend to him then he was to her.

Well politics is a tough business. They stab in backs sometimes for their own agenda. Kennedy was not so loyal to Hillary thats for sure.  But they put away their feelings in the Senate.  She did however talk to him many times after she became Sec. of State.  I do not think Bill Clinton got over it as yet. He was deeply hurt.

When people die, you sort of forget the bad stuff... at least for awhile. It was like that for me when my aunt died. She was an alcoholic and she could be nasty when she was drunk. But the day she died, I went straight from the hospital to my BFF's house. The two of us sat on the porch and talked about all the hilarious things my aunt said and did at various family parties. My aunt had been in a bad way for years-- she pretty much stayed in her apartment and drank-- but right after she died, my BFF and I weren't thinking about any of that. We remembered only the good times.

Maybe Hillary is in a similar place with Ted Kennedy.

Jen, Your so right, we do think of the good in people when they pass on.   I would agree with you knowing Hillary, she put bad memories aside.  But I will never forget how hurt the Clintons where.
R.I.P. Senator Kennedy

I don't remember Kennedy calling them racist. I certainly remember the Obama campaign to smear them as such, but when did Kennedy do it? Anyone have the quote?

He called Hillary that after the general election on the Senate floor before she became SOS.  I will look and see if I have that link somewhere.  I know we had it on the village.

That's pretty appalling, if true.

I've had this theory that Kennedy never forgave Hillary and Bill for supporting Carter in 1980. I also have a theory that, although his record suggests support for women's rights, his personal conduct suggests a kind of old-fashioned chauvanism. Maybe it just didn't sit right with him that a woman (Hillary) might grab the brass ring that always eluded him. Just my speculation.

I believe it was when the race card was played during the primary. North Carolina primary's.  Kennedy believed that the race card was Hillary's idea and we all know that it wasn't.  It was said during that time that Kennedy called the Clintons and told them he would not be endorsing Hillary due to statements he had been told and read. There where many calls and heated arguements between Bill Clinton and Sen. Kennedy.

They had many talks after the primarys and Hillary went out and worked hard for Obama.  I watched her many times talking to Senator Kennedy on the Senate floor. They seemd to be laughing and joking with each other.  But like I have said before, Hillary and Bill where so hurt.  That is over now and the kind embace that Vicki gave Hilllary was so very sincere at the Mass on Sat. showed that everyone has moved on.
